My real name is Davide
Carnevali, I was born in 1985 and I live in a small
village lost in the hills of Lecco.
The nickname RoarKing comes from my great passion for
tigers and a video game in which my main character is
precisely a tiger.
I have been interested in technology since I was little,
since I received an Amiga 600 as a gift for my eighth
birthday and, a few years later, a Pentium II.
The first use was, obviously, for video games. At the
time, the hardest part was understanding how to install
and make the game work, between floppy disks and command
lines, between libraries and various compatibility
problems. And there was no Internet and Google! Can you
imagine the satisfaction...
I later bought a Pentium 4 and transformed the old
Pentium II into a laboratory, trying to modify the
hardware, overclock (moving the jumpers on the
motherboard completely randomly until reaching a higher
frequency without the PC catching fire), programming
simple applications, etc.
With all this passion for computers and technology in
general (of which I followed magazines and exhibitions)
I graduated as a Chef.
Italians and food, you might say. In truth, I still can't
explain to you why I made this choice. Life is really
strange.
After a few years spent in restaurant kitchens, I
decided to follow my heart and throw myself into IT.
With a nice chef's diploma on my CV, I started looking
for work, preparing the most disparate answers to the
fateful question that systematically came up at every
interview: why does a chef want to work with computers?
My favorite answer was: Give me a nice dual-processor
server, without a heatsink, well overclocked and you
will see, my dears, that it works better than a stove.
Jokes aside, I started working for free until someone
noticed my passion and believed in me, giving me a
chance. Since then I have worked as a computer
technician, and then moved on to a Microsoft systems
engineer.
Recently I have started to get interested in artificial
intelligence and I am combining these "studies" with my
passion for music. Over time I have learned to write
lyrics, respecting the metrics, and then bring them to
life with AI. Far from considering myself a musician,
but I think that as a lyricist I can have my say.
Technology is not my only interest. I like cars (driving
especially), nature and adventures to tell.
I have played with snakes and tarantulas, I have trained
elephants and had a nice bath with them, but the
experience that changed my life was spending a day in
the company of tigers. Face to face, inside the cage
with them.

Yes! I'm so old...
Me with my wife and cat...
I don't know who's more ferocious. |
